February 26th at 9:59AM is the new moon in Pisces. The new and full moon every month have become a pretty big topic. I don’t know about you, but I’ve noticed that many articles talk about nonspecific “radical change” and “energy shifts” pretty much every month and I don’t feel I experience either of those things just because of the moon phase. Most of the time, change is gradual in my life. Since we experience a full moon and a new moon every single month, “radical change” would, I think, become a dreaded thing were it to happen so often.
But I’m still a proponent of setting new moon intentions without all the dressing of new-age speak. Pisces rules internal happiness, unconditional love, spiritual healing, compassion, imagination and illusion, sensitivity, trust. There’s a lot you can do with that. You can also, of course, write intentions that have nothing to do with what Pisces rules. That’s ok too.
Sometimes it’s hard for me to decide what my new moon intentions should be and in these instances I turn to tarot. There are plenty of new moon tarot spreads out there, but what I have found works best for me is to ask the cards what my new moon intentions should be, and then drawing one card for each area of my life in which I want to set a new intention. This has added a potency to my intention setting because of the inner clarity it affords.
If your intentions don’t actually reflect your inner desires, nothing will happen (which is for the best). I’ve set a lot of intentions that didn’t come to fruition in the past and many that blossomed beautifully. If nothing else this practice serves as a guidepost for where you are and where you want to be. In that regard, it is always fruitful.
So give setting new moon intentions with tarot a try. Let me know how it works for you! 💜
